Whether or not either of these propositions could be true, the values of public gardens seems to be a prominent aspect of the Pompeiian culture, and those astute enough to create opportunity were eager to do by what means necessary to build the life they wanted. Sound familiar? Regardless of their potential levels of social and economic ambition, the insights into the items left in the home preserve their true sense of self and the refinement of society gives plenty for us observers to think about.
